YMCA Children’s Waiting Room: Welcome to JBLM!

Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA

The Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) proudly announces the grand opening of the Children’s Waiting Room at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). This event marks a significant milestone in our mission to enhance the lives of military members and their families through programs tailored to the unique challenges of military life.

“It is an honor and a pleasure to be part of the Armed Services YMCA Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Children’s Waiting Room,” said Tommy Carson, ACU Military Liaison and Board Member of the Armed Services YMCA. “Providing free childcare for military parents who have medical appointments is truly incredible and amazing. This service will undoubtedly improve the quality of life for our service members and their families. We at ACU are committed to ensuring everyone knows about this remarkable and invaluable service.”

The ceremony allowed attendees to tour the new program space and learn about the vital services the ASYMCA offers in partnership with military installations across the United States. The event was attended by JBLM Garrison and Madigan Army Medical Center leadership, Congresswoman Strickland, as well as community partners from the Pacific Northwest.

ASYMCA Mission: The Armed Services YMCA is dedicated to supporting military families by offering programs that address the unique challenges they face. Our mission is to enhance the lives of military members and their families in spirit, mind, and body.

About the Children’s Waiting Room: The Children’s Waiting Room is a unique program designed to support junior enlisted service members and their families. By providing childcare services at the installation clinic, this program enables parents to prioritize their health and well-being without the added stress of finding childcare outside of the hospital. This initiative ensures that military families can keep their scheduled medical appointments, promoting overall family health and readiness.
